Heirloom
where memories last, forever
about the project
Heirloom is a supplementary digital product to enhance traditional funerals and memorials in the US, and around the world. This idea was the product of my Garage Experience class that culminated my time as Iovine and Young Academy. My two co-founders and I identified a gap in the memorialization process. We found that preserving a person's legacy is essential for healthy grieving, but traditional memorialization practices are expensive, old school, and short-lived.
The days, weeks, and months surrounding a death are challenging as is, and traditional memorials are inaccessible, antiquated, expensive and temporary. When someone passes away, people struggle to easily and collaboratively share, curate and preserve their memories digitally. This can make it difficult to properly honor and remember a loved one.
Heirloom aimed to provide a user-centered experience that enabled communities to gather online to share memories about their lost loved ones. A platform that strived to be a place where users could access and curate memories anywhere at anytime and be passed on to future generations
